Welcome to Kaichi Designs, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces created and inspired by nature. Every piece is constructed from materials available on the majestic archipelago of Haida Gwaii. Designer Kirsten Oike crafts beautiful pieces using wood, driftwood and antler, all salvaged from Haida Gwaii. Great care is taken with each piece to create beautiful gifts for yourself or others. With contemporary design elements and stunning silver hardware, each creation is as unique as the wearer and will be treasured forever.
There really is something to be said about the supports available to artists in a smaller community. According to jewelry designer, Kirsten Oike, she feels encouraged and empowered by the support she receives on Haida Gwaii as a business owner.
Haida Gwaii is home for Kirsten and she decided to build her business here because she doesn’t want to live anywhere else. She shares an intimate connection with the island community that fulfills her and enriches her life.
Kirsten wanted to become an entrepreneur to pursue her passion for art. She is proud of the products she produces, each one is meticulously crafted to create a beautiful piece that she hopes her customers will cherish forever. She is grateful to have found a way to marry her passion and her job.
The designer says she has noticed a boom in tourism on Haida Gwaii. She is hopeful that this will mean great things for the local economy and anticipates that the boost in tourism will lead to an increase in opportunities for more local businesses.
