Chown Brook Sawmill is an artisanal lumber producer. They cut all Haida Gwaii species: red cedar, yellow cedar, western hemlock, Sitka spruce, pacific yew and red alder. They utilize salvaged and FSC certified local timber to produce custom and specialty fine lumber. Chown Brook Sawmill’s mission is to provide quality lumber to the local and off-island markets and contribute to the blossoming of value-added wood product based economy on Haida Gwaii. Chown Brook Sawmill stocks green and air-dry construction lumber, siding, fencing, clear lumber, and heavy timbers. Chown Brook Sawmill’s sister company, Archipelago Yellow Cedar produces specialty items for export including boat lumber, tone wood, yakisugi (charred and brushed cedar cladding) and live-edge slabs.
